Dr. Hans Riegel awards: looking for smart people!

Be involved in 2012:

Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and the Dr. Hans Riegel foundation are looking for smart people, who would like to send in their Facharbeit (paper) and win.

How to get the most out of your paper:

The three best papers written in year 11 and 12 in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics are awarded a prize each school year. All pupils attending grammar and comprehensive schools in some Regions in Northrhine-Westphalia.


1st prize: €600
2nd prize: €400
3rd prize: €200

The winners’ schools will each receive a non-cash prize worth around €100 for Maths / Science lessons. After the award winners have been decided, the non-cash prize will be chosen together with the school and presented during the Dr. Hans Riegel award ceremony.

Terms and conditions of participation

Papers may be submitted, which:

  • were written as a Facharbeit in year 11 and 12 in a grammar or comprehensive school in the Düsseldorf / Wuppertal or Lower Rhine regions,
  • were only written during the current school year,
  • were written in the subjects Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics.

The papers are to be submitted:

  • in paper form (once) as well as on CD-ROM
  • together with the completed form

Pupils may personally apply for a prize. Any pupils under 18 will need to include written authorisation from their parent / legal guardian.
The closing date for submissions is 30th April 2012. The results / award winners will be announced before the summer holidays.
