The project "fit4heine" was a contribution to integrate refugees into our study system. Besides our existing program, we're offered this program exclusively to the refugees which does have a good knowledge in english or german, or to those which already started studying at their home or to those which intend to start studying.
The Heinrich Heine University was setting up some intensive german courses for at least 20 refugees that have B2-Level knowledges of german, those courses accompanied you for over one year until reaching the typical studying level. All oral exams until the required C1-Level attended at the HHU. Each Refugee received a personal consult in terms of study opportunities or future education opportunities in Dusseldorf. Each refugee accompanied from a "buddy" to all required events, together with a coach they attended at a tailored intercultural event. Professors from the five faculties of the HHU explained the refugees with study opportunities they have in those faculties.
As a part of a cultural project we're cooperated with the museum Kunstpalast and with our students from the HHU, to show the refugees the different art in some given countries. Connected to this project, they developed an app to show other refugees their experienced experiences.
Additionally, there was the opportunity to be part of some selected courses as a guest, for giving you a picture of studying at the HHU, and if possible to expand your knowledge.
