Faculty of Arts and Humanities
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities, which comprises twelve individual departments, offers degrees in numerous disciplines, covering History, Culture and Literature Studies, Philosophy, Social Sciences, and Linguistics. It was this diversity of disciplines that allowed for interdisciplinary cooperation to evolve. In turn, this was the basis for establishing novel programs within the newly implemented bachelor’s and master’s curricula such as Linguistics, Information Sciences and Language Technology, Media and Culture Sciences, Media Culture Analysis, Political Communication and Social Sciences. The Faculty of Arts and Humanities offers two kinds of setups for bachelor’s and master’s programs: whereas integrated programs are designed to combine various disciplines, other programs comprise a core subject and one additional subject. By combining academic and practice-based approaches to teaching and learning and by imparting essential social and communicational skills, bachelor’s programs are designed to be highly achievement-oriented. Aiming at increasing and strengthening the flexibility of knowledge, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities seeks intellectual exchange across faculties and disciplines, but also beyond university borders.
