“The University’s friends” have become an important element of Heinrich Heine University. They provide funding of many million euros every year to support teaching and research at the university.

They raise the funds from individuals and companies, mainly in Düsseldorf, but also from former students (alumni) who remain faithful to their university.

“The University’s friends” have existed as a non-profit association since 1955. In addition to collecting donations, they have managed to attract 18 foundations to the university since then.

For the “University’s friends” it is of utmost importance that they, together with the university’s management, keep the idea of private commitment alive for the university.

Time and experience have shown that both individuals and companies in Düsseldorf are genuinely fond of our university.
