The University Council
An addition central institution at Heinrich Heine University is the university council. Its members are appointed by the Ministry for a period of five years. Individuals who hold responsible positions in society, particularly in academia, business or cultural fields are chosen.
The university council advises the President’s office and supervises its management. For this purpose it is entitled to study and examine all university paperwork.
Its tasks include the election and deselection of members of the President’s office and a comment on the statement of accounts. Important aspects of academia require its approval, e.g. the business plan, the university development plan and the draft version of the agreement on objectives.
