Special methodical expertise
The biotechnological production of valuable synthons
The biotechnological production of valuable synthons, such as enantiopure or selectively functionalized small molecules, can be achieved with isolated enzymes, but also with whole cell biocatalysts. Non-natural substrates are especially challenging. Often it is necessary to change the selectivity of the biocatalysts and adapt its activity without reducing the overall stability. Biocatalyst screening and assay development is important to overcome limitations and increase the applicability of biocatalysts as catalyst in various processes and making it a truly sustainable method in organic synthesis.
