Travel Information
Arriving by PlaneThe Düsseldorf International Airport is just a few minutes away from the city center. Public transportation gets you to the city’s main train station in just a few minutes from where you can easily travel to the Heinrich Heine University. The Bus Line 721 departs in front of the arrival level and connects the airport with the main train station. The S-Bahn is located below the arrival level and departs every 10 minutes to the main train station and is the fastest way to get to the city.
Arrival by Train
The Düsseldorf main train station has connections to all major German and European cities. For booking and online reservations please check the websites of the German Rail (Deutsche Bahn): www.bahn.de.

There are several ways to get from the main train station to the Heinrich Heine University. The Bus Lines 735, 827, 835 and 836 all depart in front of the main train station and stop at ‘Universität Mitte’. This stop is located close the center of the university’s campus.
The tram line 707 departs in front of the main train station and stops at ‘Universität Ost/Botanischer Garten’. Alternatively you can take the subway U79 which also departs from the main train station. The stop of the 707 and U79 is located at the south end of the campus and is a five minute walk to the campus center. Both bus and tram need 20-25 minutes from the main train station to the HHU depending on traffic. For time table and booking refer to:

From the East
Coming from the A3 (south/north) change to A46 at junction ‘Hilden’ towards Düsseldorf. Take the exit ‘D-Zentr.-Süd/ D-Universität’. For your information, this short exist is located in a tunnel. After the exist stay on the left lane, continue along the ‘B8/Werstener Straße’ for around 800 meters. At the first traffic light turn left into the ‘Universitätsstraße’ and follow the university’s parking guidance system.
From the West
The two freeways A57 and A46 are connected at the junction ‘Neuss-Süd’. Directly behind the Rhine river bridge (Fleher Brücke) take the exit ‘Bilk/Zentrum/Hafen/Benrath’. Then take the next exit ‘Benrath/Universität’ and follow the street to the right. On campus simply follow the university’s parking guidance system.
From City Center
via ‘Corneliusstraße’ and ‘Witzelstraße’ (direction: Wuppertal, A46), then take a right turn into the ‚Universitätsstraße’. On campus simply follow the university’s parking guidance system. Please be advised that all cars parked in prohibited areas are towed immediately by the city’s department of transportation.
