Prof. Dr. Siegfried Elsing, LL.M. (Yale) is a partner at Orrick Hölters & Elsing. After completion of his studies at the universities of Freiburg, Lausanne, Münster (Dr. iur. 1976) and at Yale (LL.M. 1979). Prof. Elsing started out his career as a practicing attorney in 1979 in Cologne and continued to practice in 1981 and 1982 with a law firm in New York. In 1983, he became admitted to practice in New York (in addition to his German Bar membership). Since 1983, Prof. Elsing’s practice is focused on the principal areas of international business law with a strong emphasis in dispute resolution, M&A and corporate law. Prof. Elsing has more than 20 years of experience representing German and international clients in domestic and international disputes both before German State Courts and in national and international commercial arbitrations. He has acted as arbitrator and chairman in more than 60 international arbitral proceedings (ICC, DIS, UNCITRAL, ad hoc etc.). Prof. Elsing is familiar with teaching classes at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf: He lectures as Honorary Professor on International Commercial Arbitration and International Civil Procedure. Prof. Elsing is a member of the Deutscher Anwalt Verein (DAV), the International Bar Association (IBA) (Chair Mediation Committee 2006 - 2008), the American Bar Association (ABA), the Deutsche Institution für Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit (DIS), the Association Suisse de l’Arbitrage (ASA) and the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA). Prof. Elsing regularly acts as arbitrator in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition in Vienna. 

Prof. Dr. R. Alexander Lorz, LL.M. (Harvard) ist Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Deutsches und Ausländisches Öffentliches Recht, Völkerrecht und Europarecht an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf. Er wurde an den Universitäten Mainz (1. Staatsexamen 1988), Marburg (Dr. iur. 1992), Harvard (LL.M. 1994, Haniel-Stipendiat) und Mannheim (Habilitation 1999) ausgebildet. Prof. Lorz ist ehemaliger Staatssekretär im Hessischen Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst, Regionalvorstand der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Juristenvereinigung und Gründungsvorstand des Düsseldorfer Instituts für Außen- und Sicherheitspolitik. Er ist als Attorney-at-Law in New York zugelassen. An Prof. Lorz Lehrstuhl sind sowohl der Philip C. Jessup, als auch der FDI Moot Court beheimatet, welche er beide auch durch großen persönlichen Einsatz unterstützt. Prof. Lorz nimmt zudem jährlich an den Endrunden des Willem C. Vis Moot Courts in Wien als Arbitrator teil.

Ulrike Gantenberg is a Managing Partner of the independent German law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek and works in the Düsseldorf office. She is specialised in international arbitration, corporate law, M&A and capital markets. Prior to joining Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, Ulrike Gantenberg worked in the arbitration department of an international law firm in Paris. She acts as counsel and in arbitral tribunals in international arbitration proceedings of all types, concerning in particular Post-M&A, corporate, construction and commercial matters including disputes under Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs). Ulrike Gantenberg has published extensively on international commercial arbitration and corporate law. She is member of multiple international arbitration associations and Coordinator of the DIS 40. She traditionally acts as arbitrator in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition in Vienna.  

Dr. Wolfgang Gruber, LL.M. (Georgetown), ist Partner der deutsch-britischen Kanzlei Taylor Wessing in Düsseldorf und Leiter der Praxisgruppe Prozessführung und Streitbeilegung. Herr Dr. Gruber studierte in München und am Georgetown Law Centre in Washington, D.C., wo er einen LL.M. erwarb. 1997 schloss Herr Dr. Gruber seine Promotion bei Professor Dr. Peter Schlosser ab und wurde als Rechtsanwalt zugelassen. Herr Dr. Gruber nimmt regelmäßig als Schiedsrichter an den Finalrunden des Willem C. Vis Moot Court in Wien teil. 

Birgit Kurtz, J.D. (Fordham), Esquire, ist im New Yorker Büro der US-amerikanischen Anwaltssozietät Crowell &  Moring LLP tätig und war vorher Partnerin bei Alston & Bird LLP. Nach Studium der Rechtswissenschaft an der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster und erstem Staatsexamen in Deutschland ging Birgit Kurtz an die Fordham Law School in New York, wo sie einen J.D. erwarb. Sie ist vor allem im Bereich der Prozessführung tätig und vertritt in den USA Unternehmen und Privatpersonen, zum Großteil aus Deutschland. Die Expertise von Birgit Kurtz liegt neben der (internationalen) Prozessführung vor allem auf Kunstrecht und internationalem Recht. Sie ist seit vielen Jahren als Schiedsrichterin bei dem Finale des Willem C. Vis Moot in Wien vor Ort. 

Dr. Denis Gebhardt, LL.M. (Sacramento) ist Partner im Düsseldorfer Büro der der internationalen Rechtsanwaltskanzlei Beiten Burkhardt. Er hat den Düsseldorfer Vis Moot von seinen ersten Schritten an begleitet. Er engagiert sich jährlich im Rahmen der Düsseldorf International Arbitration School und der Düsseldorf Pre-Moot Rounds. Ferner leistet er regelmäßig wertvolle Unterstützung zum erfolgreichen Abschneiden der Teams im Rahmen der Schriftsatzarbeit, sowie durch das Abhalten von Probepleadings.

Alexandra Diehl, LL.M. (SU Boston) is an associate with the international law firm Clifford Chance. Before joining Clifford Chance, Alexandra  was an associate with Orrick Hölters & Elsing and previously a research associate at the Faculty of Law of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. She was faculty adviser of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Team that received three honourable mentions at the 2008 competition in Vienna. Furthermore, Alexandra coched the Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court Team and initiated the Düsseldorf International Arbitration School – a yearly five-day event she continues to organize. Alexandra received her legal education from the University of Münster and Suffolk University Law School Boston (LL.M. 2004). As a trainee lawyer, she worked for the German Embassy in Washington, D.C. and a Düsseldorf IP boutique law firm. Alexandra regularly publishes on issues of commercial and investment arbitration. She is currently working on a doctoral thesis on substantive standards of international investment law. Alexandra was a board member of the Düsseldorf Moot Association from 2007 to 2008 and has been a trustee since.

Verena Meurers war das „Urgestein“ am Lehrstuhl von Prof. Dr. R. Alexander Lorz: Sie arbeitete von 2000 bis 2008 für den Juraprofessor. Verena absolvierte im Oktober 2004 ihr erstes juristisches Staatsexamen und widmet sich im Anschluss einer Promotion zum Thema „Der Einfluss ausgewählter Religionen auf völkerrechtliche Menschenrechtsregime und Entwicklungspolitik“. Verena leitete fünf Arbeitsgemeinschaften im öffentlichen Recht und arbeitete an dem im Axel-Springer-Verlag erschienenen “Fallrepetitorium Europarecht“ von Alexander Lorz mit. Verena war nicht nur „die Konstante“ am Lehrstuhl Lorz, sondern war lange Jahre ein wesentlicher Garant dafür, dass eine Teilnahme der Düsseldorfer Fakultät an völkerrechtlichen Moot Courts möglich war. Verena nahm selbst im Wintersemester 2001/2002 am Telders Moot Court teil und betreute von 2005 bis 2008 das Jessup-Team der Fakultät.
