SE33 (ACTBP2)
Preliminary remarks: SE33 has a polemic length and sequence polymorphism. A high number of alleles have been described, some of which may vary by as little as one bp. Moreover, its AT rich sequence may have anomalous migration rates in different electrophoretic systems (4). At the SE33 workshop (Wiesbaden, Germany, 1996) it was decided to use denaturating PA gels from now on. This standardisation led to a significant loss of data because of the different typing and incomparable nomenclature when using native gels. For nomenclature we used the recommendations of GEDNAP (19). In some cases there was no possibility to translate published allele designations, in some other cases the sum of allele frequencies deviated clearly from 1. We apologise to have to reject those data from the tables (last update: 07.09.2001).
