- HLA Class I and II typing of the cord blood:
- HLA-A, B, C typing by serology; one stored sample for confirmatory HLA typing available
- HLA-DR, DQ typing by PCR-SSO; generic typing of HLA-DRß, -DQß
- subtyping of HLA-DRß, -DQß and -DPß upon request
- Nucleated cell count and CD34 positive cells
- Blood group: ABO, D, Kell, Duffy of the cord blood
- Infectious disease testing
- of the mother:
- HIV1/2; HTLV-1/2; Hepatitis A, B, C; Toxoplasmosis;
Syphilis;
- CMV antibody, total and IgM; HSV, IgG and IgM; EBV, IgG and IgM
- of the cord blood: CMV (PCR)
- Control of sterility: aerobic and anaerobic cultures
- Number of hematopoietic precursor cells: CFU-GM, BFU-E, CFU-GEMM
- Stored specimen of the cord blood and the maternal blood: DNA, mononuclear cells Plasma/serum of the mother
- Testing for the exclusion of contaminating maternal cells
- X/Y chromosome analysis in sexmismatched situations
- PCR-SSP for the noninherited maternal HLA-DRß allele
- Information available of the mother's interview and review of diseases on the mother and the child at discharge.
- Diseases (genetic and infections)
- Problems with pregnancy, delivery and after birth
- Ethnicity of the parents
